**Spoiler Alert

Ji-hyun Jun portrays the character Kyungjin, a police officer on her day off is forced back on duty when she is caught chasing down a bag-snatcher. The "bag-snatcher" turns out to be Myungwoo (Hyuk Jang, "Volcano High"), a passer-by who was trying to catch the actual criminal. With a twist of fate, the two are paired together after Myungwoo volunteers to be on patrol looking out for unruly students.

I'm not certain if this is a routinely thing in Korea or a consequence of the "usual love movie" plot, but soon enough the oddly matched pair is finding themselves attracted to one another. Like any other romance movie, the lovers weren't destined to be together, if somewhat expected, Kyungjin bothered by everything and finding her will to live on when a fatal accident occurs.

Winstruck brings out the true spirit of asian ghost movies. It taught me that love lives on, no matter what the situation. I really enjoyed this movie. I would recommend it to anyone who is seaching for that glimpse of hope that love is really out there for them.

Windstruck, directed by writer/director Kwak Jae Yong, is a love story. It’s a romantic comedy/drama about a mild mannered teacher and a head-strong, tough policewoman and their “pinky promise”. The movie opens with teacher Myung Woo, played by Jang Hyuck, chasing a purse snatcher. He is immediately mistaken for the real thief by off duty Officer Kyung-jin, (Jeon Ji Hyun) and is promptly tackled, tied up and arrested. The error is soon cleared up and Myung Woo is freed. The two meet again soon after when Myung Woo has to accompany a police officer through the red light district as part of his duties at the high school. Being assigned to Officer Kyung-jin is filled with excitement and danger and leads to love between the two.

During summer break, the couple decides to take an “off road” vacation in Myung woo’s newly purchased jeep. They travel to a place that has no paved roads up in the mountains. As they settle in for the night Kyung-jin explains the story of why people promise with their pinkies.

This story is wonderfully acted and beautifully filmed, with scenes that bring quick laughter and others that bring immediate tears. It shows how the power of love can give you courage.

What is it about Windstruck that makes me prefer it to the more popular and even bigger hit, My Sassy Girl? Is it because people saw Sassy Girl first while for me, it was the other way around? I don’t think so.

The two movies have a lot in common: both are romantic comedies, beautiful and talented Jeon Ji Hyun plays the female lead and pace is equally upbeat. The male leads might be different but they are both equally talented and funny. Windstruck appears to have been produced to ride on the popular Sassy Girl tag because in the ending scene, the male lead of Sassy Girl appeared. This caused people to think that Windstruck is the prequel to Sassy Girl. However, if you analyse the characters in the two stories, this cannot be so.

OK, back to why I am enamoured of Windstruck. I have to say the love story and OST. Windstruck is a much more serious love story (I am a sucker for serious romance, even romantic tragedies - as long as the story is original and good). What impresses me most of all was the OST. The song “Tears” by X-Japan never fails to bring a tear to my eye whenever I am watching this movie. It has become my all-time favourite and will remain my classic. The adaptation of Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door is impressive. Even my husband, who is a fan of Eric Clapton, applauds the Korean version. So yes, Windstruck has a much more moving love story than Sassy Girl. So if you are the type who doesn’t mind shedding a little tear or two and prize music and OST in a movie, you’d like Windstruck, no, love it. I have watched it several times over the past few months and I will over the next few months! Enjoy!

The story sounds boring at first because you'd be expecting the teaser on the start to be the end but then the director went beyond what we could ever think of.the movie is great,. :)
