With this movie, he made a breakthrough in the almost puritanical stand of his country in censoring sex in movies.

On the story itself, I feel that a pretty, luscious virgin of 18 is unlikely to fall for a skinny unattractive man in his 30's and be so quick in agreeing to perform acts in the scenes titled "The First Hole", "The Second Hole" and "The Third Hole". The third hole -- sodomy --is something that the normal woman would abhor. And the tasting of the excrement -- Urgh!! It's disgusting!

The whipping was rather disturbing. I can't believe that the girl can be so besotted that she could endure the pain and violence of being thrashed with hoses, broom sticks, etc.

It was a relief to see the story ending the way it did. But to have to wait till the very end to find out why the movie is called "Lies" is an anti-climax.

The lighting and the filming angles of the intimate scenes were superb. It was done tastefully despite the glimpses of frontal nudity.

With 90% of the scenes in the nude, the couple's acting was natural and convincing. They are not porn actors so you can imagine that it was not easy to do all the intimate scenes with a fellow actor in the presence of the film production crew and not with a sexual partner of one's choice in the privacy of a bedroom!Yufeifeihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12895460274850018108noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1097056304422060176.post-74418435794417568232006-11-21T00:59:00.000-05:002006-11-21T01:01:03.697-05:00S DiaryS Diary (S Daeori)

Release Date : 2004
Director : Kwon Jong Gwan
Writer : Kong Jong Gwan

Cast:
Kim Sun Ah - Jini
Goong Yoo - Yoo In
Lee Hyeon Woo - Ku Hyeon
Kim Soo Roo - Jeong Seok

Reviewed By : deeta

**Spoiler Alert

The first thing I notice about this movie is that it has such a good opening. It's all so artistic and definitely wonderful. I really get the feeling that whoever made the movie was very serious about it.

S Diary tells a story of a freshly dumped woman (Kim Sun Ah) who suddenly realizes that all the men she has dated are never interested in sincerely loving her. All her three ex boyfriends (Lee Hyun Woo the priest, Kim Soo Ro the rude playboy, and Gong Yoo the spoiled artist) were sent a bill, asking them to reimburse her monetarily or else.

This movie is every bit of funny as it is sad. At first, Kim Sun Ah was so blinded by her fury and then she is eager to get her revenge. In the end, after she gets all her money, she realizes that however horrible all her relationships have been, the memory of them would always be meaningful.

The storyline is pretty nice. It is able to mix comedy, romance, drama, and does not appear like it lacks one or the others. The plot itself may not spectacularly creative but it manages to develop the plot into such a great movie. From the beginning towards the end, it does not lose focus and last, it ends resolutely and very sweetly.

Kim Sun Ah shines as always. She plays her character with so much heart that the viewers would cry when she cries and be mad when she is. All the three ex-boyfriends act very well too. I have always found Gong Yoo to be so adorable yet sexy. And in this movie, he is once again able to give the viewers those persona. Lee Hyun Woo and Kim Soo Ro play their characters very nicely as well.
<!-- D(["mb","
This movie is recommended for you to watch when you just want to lay back, enjoy yourself, but still want something of a substance. The fire and anger in his eyes are terrifying and the way he physically abusing his brother is stunning.

The director still allow us to see the more gentle and passionate side of Jo In Seung when he meets his first love and his pouring of his inner feelings and sharing his dark secrets with his good friend Min Ho acted by Nam Gung Min.

The chemistry between Jo In Seung and Nam Gung Min is good and at certain times.Nam Gung Min even steals the limelight from Jo In Seung.

His merciless boss cold bloodly block off Jo In Seung's finacial income, driven to desparation and the strong desire to survive he eliminated his boss and consolidated his postion in the underworld.

However, it never cross his mind that Karma will come around. He meets an unlikely mentor in Pan-su who teaches him not only fighting lessons, but also life lessons. The movie weaves through Byeong-tae's experiences in how he copes with being bullied and finally finding the courage to fight back, as well as showing us the relationship that grows between mentor and student.

++Spoilers: you have been warned!

The premise of the movie is not original. For instance, The Karate Kid has the same ideas, but this, to me, was ultimately more satisfying. It portrayed a lot more emotional depth. My emotions were invested when I watched this movie. I was there when Byeong-tae got kicked in the head or knocked down. I felt his frustration in trying to fight back and I was there rejoicing when he triumphed in the end.

I was forewarned that some parts of this movie, particularly the fight scenes, were hard to watch, and it was, but nevertheless this movie was a breath of fresh air on an otherwise overblown and saturated action genre.

I love this movie, blood splatters and all. Compared to extreme korean films, like Oldboy, this was tame, yet the film portrays a refreshing angle to the action genre which mostly shows stylistic martial arts and high flying acrobatics. There are scenes in this movie that are cringe inducing and all the more powerful. For example, our hero confronts one of his bullies in an elevator. He has a soda can inside a sock and with his cold anger he unleashes all of his rage and frustration. The camera pans out and we can see our hero's reflection reflected on the elevator's mirrors pummeling and fighting dirty. And fighting dirty is what is central in this film, it shows that in a fight, honor is never shown, so it's either eat or be eaten.Yufeifeihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12895460274850018108noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1097056304422060176.post-79562912589187045812006-11-03T14:15:00.000-05:002006-11-03T14:16:25.544-05:00Please Teach Me EnglishPlease Teach Me English (Yeong Eo Wan Jeon Jeong Bok)

Release Date : 2003
Director : Kim Seong Soo
Writer : Choi Hee Dae

Cast :
Jang Hyeok ... The story line is ordinary wherein a not so good looking girl will meet a good looking boy. I kinda feel bored with the movie because I didnt feel the chemistry with the lead actor and lead actress however I was amazed on how the koreans are really trying their best to learn english and how they proved that they are good. What really annoys me is that why does until the end Candy never change her appearance I was really looking forward to the part wherein she will take a huge step in changing herself. Ohmoo She badly need a make over. I was so touched with the ending cause I think every woman will like to experience the "thing" that Elvis did for Candy. LOLZ Candy have a good taste in picking shoes and in men.

I will rate this movie as 8/10 because I believe that it is still enjoyable and can make you relax after a tiring day. :)Yufeifeihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12895460274850018108noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1097056304422060176.post-6757704370002911162006-11-03T14:08:00.000-05:002006-11-03T14:17:35.350-05:00The Coast GuardThe Coast Guard (Hae An Seon)

Release Date: 2002
Director: Kim Ki Duk
Writer: Kim Ki Duk

Cast:
Jang Dong Gun ... Not surprisingly, Kim has been dubbed the “bad boy” of contemporary Korean cinema, but such facile descriptions undermine the breadth of this filmmaker’s considerable talent as well as the challenging ideas and concepts that season his work. As is often the case with controversial artists, both Kim’s critics and champions are right. At his most refined, he has created such lyrical masterpieces as “Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter. . . and Spring,” “Samaritan Girl” (also known as “Samaria”), and “3-Iron.” Yet, in films such as “Bad Guy” and “The Isle” – both of which are best viewed through clenched fingers – Kim has displayed ferocity toward women bordering on misogynistic. More than just disturbing, these films could be branded as morally repellent.

Still, Kim is usually an interesting storyteller, which is what makes “The Coast Guard” such an aberration. It's all the more disappointing since the film might seem to have much to recommend it, including Jang Dong-gun (“Tae Guk Gi,” “Typhoon”) in the title role. And the film’s theme – the toll of military conscription on the fragile psyches of young men – is a ripe topic in Korean cinema from Park Chan-wook’s “JSA” to Yoon Jong-bin’s “The Unforgiven.” It begins promisingly with Jang’s tightly-wound Private Kang eager to prove himself by killing a North Korean spy. One night, Kang sees movement in a restricted area and opens fire, only to discover he has killed, not a spy, but a young man having sex with his girlfriend on the beach. Instead of being punished, Kang receives a commendation, and a week-long leave, much to the chagrin of outraged locals. Predictably, the tragedy has a devastating impact on both Kang and Mee-young (Park Jee-ah), whose boyfriend was killed.

At this point, the film could have become a thoughtful examination into ramifications of a soldier’s overzealous act; instead the narrative thread unravels. Kang falls apart, attacking civilians and other soldiers. (Never the most subtle actor, Jang doesn’t just overact; he becomes a twitchy caricature of mental instability.) And, for reasons best understood by the filmmaker, Mee-young reacts to the calamity by hacking off her hair, urinating in public, and becoming promiscuous with Kang’s fellow’s soldiers.

Anchored more in male fantasies – the sexually-insatiable crazy woman – than logic, this dubious plotline erases any salient point Kim might have made about a society where nearly every young man is trained – and potentially rewarded – for taking a life. Whatever Kim’s intentions, “The Coast Guard” ultimately fails, and not because he swings and misses in connecting with larger themes. Its undoing is a meandering, inco herent story, tactics designed solely to shock and offend, and Kim’s occasional yet always regrettable tendency to present degrading, objectified images of women.Yufeifeihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12895460274850018108noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1097056304422060176.post-28315428059988588532006-10-29T22:23:00.000-05:002006-10-29T22:24:11.149-05:00My BrotherMy Brother (Uri Hyung)

Release Date: 2004
Director: Ahn Kwon Tae
Writer: Ahn Kwon Tae

Cast:
Won Bin ... Won Bin plays Jong-hyeon , the younger brother, who is good at fighting and always looking for trouble. On the contrary his older brother, Seong-hyeon (Shin Ha-gyun) is tender and good at studying. Since they were small, they have received different treatment from their mother. The mother always compliments and treats Seong-hyeon with more love, which makes Jong-hyeon dislikes his own brother. On the other hand Seong-hyeon is a little bit jealous over Jong-hyeon because of his handsome face. The conflict grows deeper when both of them fall for Mi-ryeong (Lee Bo-yeong), the most beautiful girl in the neighbourhood. Will they continue carry on living hating each other? or will they find out the meaning of being brother?

The build up of the story is slow and steady. Thanks to the superb acting of both Won Bin and Shin Ha-gyun, the viewer is taken on a journey of sentimental scnenes, that will shed tears. Furthermore, this movie is completed with valuable gems in almost every aspect.
Final words: this is a very good movie and I'm sure that everyone will learn something new about life from this movie.Yufeifeihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12895460274850018108noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1097056304422060176.post-69023538217096874192006-10-28T14:39:00.000-04:002006-10-28T14:41:23.619-04:00Old BoyOld Boy (Oldeuboi)

Release Date: 2003
Director: Park Chan Wook
Writer: Hwang Jo Yun, Lim Chun Hyeong, Park Chan Wook

Cast:
Choi Min Sik ... This is been especially prevalent among Western movie critics, who seemto have no such complaints about far more brutal (and brainless films.) But I digress. "Oldboy's" power comes not from its physical violence. (By the way, most of its bloodiest scenes occur off-screen, and it's a credit to Park's deft filmmaking that he makes viewers believe they've witnessed something not shown on camera.) Adapted from a Japanese manga, "Oldboy" delves into the bitter core of emotional violence. No amount of blood compares to the film's devastating denouement, or Woo-jin's (Yu Ji-tae) cynical and clinical dissection of the merits of revenge coming to sad fruition near the film's conclusion. It accomplishes the task inherent in all great films – more than just entertainment, it cajoles the audience to ask “What would I do in a similar situation?” And, Park (along with co-writers Hwang Jo-yoon and Im Joon-hyung) reinvigorates the “revenge drama,” a common cinematic theme, by imbuing his trilogy with consequence. Revenge is not gleeful; it’s a spiritually painful for those seeking it as well as its intended target.

The casting is spot-on. The great Choi Min-sik has never been better, and kudos to Yu Ji-tae for taking what could have been a snarling one-note villian, and evoking pathos, even an odd poignancy. Equal praise to Gang Hye-jung and the always reliable Oh Dal-su.
Also, mention must be made of Jo Young-wook's evocative score, especially the baroque "Cries and Whispers," which is featured in so many incarnations (even a a ringtone), it almost becomes another character in the film. More than a classic of contemporary Korean cinema, it's one of the great films, in any nation, of the past quarter-century. Not a day goes by when I don't find myself considering its many provocative themes, and it has forever altered my standards for the tenets of a masterpiece. It's virtuoso filmmaking, yet Park never sacrifices substance for style and spectacle. "Oldboy" is a film to be studied, admired, and revered for decades to come.Yufeifeihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12895460274850018108noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1097056304422060176.post-24364332954839147792006-10-28T14:37:00.000-04:002006-11-21T00:56:47.195-05:003 Iron3 Iron (Bin-jip)

Release Date : 2005
Director : Kim Ki Duk
Writer : Kim Ki Duk

Cast:
Jae Hee ... It has such poignant quality to it. It reminds me of the dream like state of Last Life in the Universe, yet it retains its own uniqueness. Dialogue was not essential between the two characters. It would have lessen the tension in the film if it did. Director Kim Ki Duk understood perfectly that what was said was beautifully captured by the lens, and in doing so he let the audience ease into the film efortlessly.

Tae-suk (Jae Hee) is a jobless college-educated mute (by choice) vagrant that breaks into vacationing people's homes and treats himself to the bear essentials - food, a place to sleep and shower - and in return he fixes broken appliances, cleans the house and does their laundry. He also takes pictures of himself along portraits of the owner's home. It's as if he wants to ingrain himself temporarily in their lives. He does not stay long and moves around quite often. He meets Sun Hwa (Lee Seong Yun), a silent, meek and physically abused housewife, in one of his break-ins. And this meeting is the catalyst to an unlikely and emotionally wrenching love story.

I've been a fan of Jae Hee since Delightful Girl Cheunyang[??]. He isn't overtly handsome like other korean actors and he isn't the most charismatic, yet he has the most intense expression when he keeps still and let his eyes talk. It's very obvious in this film that director Kim Ki Duk made use of Jae Hee's expressive facial expressions, particularly his eyes. Lee Seong Yun was superb in this film. She creates an effortless and almost serene quality in the film. She weaves a magical spell from the beginning with her quite rage towards her husband to her triumphant and vocal statement of love to Tae-suk.

Director Kim Ki Duk abandons his usual style of sweeping paronamic shots and themes of lust and violence. This film was tame compared to his previous films, yet this was the most stunning out of all of them. I've seen this film 3 times and each time I find something new to marvel at. I already miss the characters, and I would probably watch the film again after writing this. I akin this film to Wong Kar Wai's wonderful masterpieces: In the Mood for Love and 2046. I had a similar reaction. I could not forget about the characters and watched the film over and over again and fell in love every damn time.

Reviewed By : eamiru

3-iron is the quietest movie I ever watched. It is a story about this homeless – Tae-suk –. His daily routine involves temporarily staying in vacant houses and apartments. He never steals nor damages his unknowing hosts’ homes; rather, he is like a kind ghost, sleeping in other people’s beds, eating a little food out of strangers’ fridges and repaying their unintended hospitality by doing the laundry or making small repairs.

Sun-hwa was once a beautiful model, but she has withered living with her abusive husband, who keeps he imprisoned in their affluent, expensively decorated house. Tae-suk and Sun-hwa are bound by fate to cross their paths. They finally meet when Tae-suk breaks into Sun-hwa’s house and they instantly recognize the similarity of their souls, finding themselves unable to separate.

The title, 3-iron refers to the golf club that is least used in the sport, but plays a leading role in a stor about the transcendental power of romance. This movie has win the Venice Film Festival – Special Director’s Award – and Valladolid Int’l Film Festival – Best Film, KIM Ki-duk –.

And this movie is worth watching when you want to see how LEE Seung-yeon and JAE Hee act ‘quietly’ because it is very difficult and very seldom to see this kind of movie in any countries. It has greatly elevated my appreciation for Korean films and my interest in them. I was first drawn to this movie because of the Song Hye Kyo, one of my most beloved actresses. It was not long before I was totally captivated by the story. It begins in present day Korea when Su Ho returned to his hometown for a ten year high school reunion. Depicting his undying love for a girlfriend long dead. The film moves back ten years ago, showing how the love story between how Su Ho, an ordinary guy and the school belle unfolds. One of the nice thing here is it is about the innocent and pure relationship between teenagers, something I can easily relate to. Like all Korean love stories, there is a twist, putting their love to the biggest test. Through the struggle, its shows the extraordinary maturity of these two in dealing with the dilemma, Su Eun, played by Song Hye Kyo, demonstrated great understanding and thoughtfulness.

In a way, the film can be said to end in a good way, Su Eun found the love of her life and Su Ho managed to mend his broken heart and bravely face the painful past. People may say that such a story line isn’t anything new and the story may be quite stale in a way, but to me the attraction of the film is the detailed expression of true love and feelings, something we simply can’t get from Hollywood movies despite their hefty budget and interesting stories. The music is another merit, successfully enhancing the atmosphere in the film. In fact it is with the help of the music that moved many viewers to tears. On the whole, this is a great movie and it did not achieve the level of fame it deserves but I believe everyone will learn something new about life from the movie, one that is suitable for all ages as it deals with the fundamentals of human nature.Yufeifeihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12895460274850018108noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1097056304422060176.post-87190416248113263822006-10-27T16:00:00.000-04:002006-10-27T16:01:52.251-04:00The ClassicThe Classic (Keulrasik)

Release Date : 2002
Director: Kwak Jae Young
writer: Kwak Jae Young

Cast:
Son Ye Jin ... It is two love stories in one coupled with beautiful, melodic music and scenic views that are simply breath taking. The tale begins with Ji-Hyae, who likes the same guy as her friend Soo Kyung. While cleaning, Ji-Hyae finds some old letters belonging to mother Jo Hee detailing the romance between her and her first love, Joon-Hee. Many years prior, Jo Hee had met Joon-Hee and felt instantly drawn to him but she is hindered by a forced betrothal to Joon-Hee's best friend Tae Soo.

The story switches back and forth between Ji-Hyae and the love triangle that is going on with her and her best friend being in love with Sang Min, and flashbacks of her mother’s love triangle. The viewer is taken on a journey that will leave you alternately wiping tears and rejoicing as the two triangles move towards a resolution. In order not to spoil the ending, I will just say that one love story has a typical happy ending while the other d oes not. The one with the typical happy ending though is full of surprise revelations that makes it unique and refreshing.Yufeifeihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12895460274850018108noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1097056304422060176.post-55840677895253368092006-10-27T15:58:00.000-04:002006-10-27T16:04:50.882-04:00My Wife Is A Gangster 1My Wife Is A Gangster (Japong Manura)

Release Date: 2001
Director: Cho Gin Jyu
Writer: Kang Hyo Jin, Kim Moon Sung,

Cast:
Shin Eun Kyung ... I had no idea it would be so hilarious too. Sin Eun-kyeong does an excellent job as a brutal gang leader. Her stoic nature lends additonal humor to solemn scenes. Her husband, Park Sang-myeon, plays the part of a blubbering do-gooder who doesn't know the exact details of his wife's job. Seeing the progression of both characters is enjoyable to watch. If you're looking for an action movie with a splash of humor, "My Wife is a Gangster" is the way to go.Yufeifeihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12895460274850018108noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1097056304422060176.post-58445644175683544472006-10-27T15:53:00.000-04:002006-10-27T15:55:17.235-04:00Spring BreezeSpring Breeze (Bureora Bombaram)

Release Date : 2003
Director: Jang Hang Joon
Writer: Jang Han Joon

Cast :
Kim Seung Woo ... The film starts out with Doo-hong Jung as police dective Tae-Su in Seoul going back to his home town for his friend's funeral. On the surface it seems like he was killed by a few low-level thugs but as the film unravels the story turns out to be a bit more complex. The "surprise twist" is hinted at throughout the movie and is foreseeable a mile away. In essence you have two good guys battle with lots of minons and a few elite bad guys before the end as in many other movies like this.

It was a very watchable movie, it wasn't a life changing cinematic experience or anything but a good way to kill some time. Most of all I really enjoyed the action sequences where one or two good guys battle it out with swarms of bad guys. In a way it reminded me of Kill Bill, slightly cartoonish but none the less exicting fighting scenes. I liked the way how the movie flashed back at times to show the progression of the relationship of the four main characters with each other as the years went by.

It really didn't have a memorable soundtrack or any other thing that really sticks with you after the movie besides the action scenes. Although Doo-hong played an excellent bad ass cop, he just has the facial characteristics of a good anti-hero. I definitely recommend it, if anything just watch it for the action scenes.Yufeifeihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12895460274850018108noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1097056304422060176.post-59980359157961143922006-10-26T03:34:00.000-04:002006-10-26T03:48:10.758-04:00My Boyfriend Is Type BMy Boyfriend Is Type B ( B-hyeong namja chingu)

Release Date: 2005
Director: Choi Seok Won
Writer: Choi Seok Won

Cast:
Lee Dong Gun ... As fate would have it, one day, Hye Young meets Jung Woo, who coincidentally has a pot of daises with him. Why? Well after you watch it then you will understand what I meant.

The story begin with Hae Ju (Sin Min Ah) who lost her eye sight in an accident and since then she felt her world was ended. But she is not that unlucky after all, she got a mother that always supports her and her boyfriend Dong Gun (Reyo Seong Beum). As the story from this point will be more interesting because Dong Gun unfortunately lies about his appearance to Hae Ju. And Hae Ju about to have operation that restores her eye sight.

The funny part begin where Gong Gun face a critical identity crisis that at some point I believe that he would kill himself but of course that is not possible because it will be the end of the story. Gong Gun tried everything to make his face look more attractive and something happened that force him to hide himself and lies that he need to go to Hawaii for work. In the meantime Hae Ju that desperately wants to see Gung Gun accidentally meets handsome Jun Ha (Kim Kang Woo). Jun Ha finds Hae Ju really attractive and soon falls in love with her.

Jun Ha tries everything to make Hae Ju falls in love with her and Dong Gun knew about this and tries to prevent every Jun Ha’s moves. Will Hae Ju falls for Jun Ha? Will Dong Gun able to prevent Jun Ha’s moves? Who will win Hae Ju’s heart Jun Ha or Dong Gun? Watch it then you will know.

Reviewed By : ICHOOSEYOO

How many times have you heard the classic tale of Beauty and the Beast? Well, say hello to a refreshing take on the age old tale. The Beast and the Beauty was a one of a kind movie that made you cry, laugh, and even cry AND laugh at the same time. Shin Min-Ah plays the blind and beautiful girlfriend of a gorgeous man, or so she thinks. Ryu Seung-Bum plays the part of the "gorgeous" boyfriend. He lies to her and describes himself to be a handsome and very successful business man, but in reality, he is a voice actor for cartoons. But WAIT. Before you make assumptions about him, he is a low self-esteemed man who is truly in love with this girl but can't bear to tell him about what he thinks is a disfigured face. One day, his fairy tale suddenly comes to a screeching halt with the news of an eye donor for Shin Min-Ah. Chaos ensues for Ryu Seung-Bum's character as he constantly runs away from truly showing his girlfriend who he really is. Things get all the more complicated, when Ryu's old high school friend steps into the picture.

Not only is this movie a quirky love story, but also a family movie with morals. I usually tend to stray from movies with the same old plot, but the Beast and the Beauty was such a different outtake on a familiar storyline. I couldn't resist. My whole family enjoyed it as did I the first, second, and third time I watched it. The hilarious scenes are bound to make you laugh. This is a sweet love story that will be around for decades.Yufeifeihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12895460274850018108noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1097056304422060176.post-25047730399621475252006-10-17T14:02:00.000-04:002006-10-17T14:03:55.256-04:00BichunmooBichunmoo

Release Date: 2000
Director: Kim Young Jun
Writer: Kim Young Jun

Cast:
Shin Hyeon Jun ... The story line of this movie is very interesting and it had a very suprising ending that you wouldn't espect.
The male actor in this movie Park Jung-chul did a great job at playing as a cute, charming, ladyman manager that made our Jang Nara ( the lead female actress) to fall in love with him at the first sight.

She liked him at first, then she was crazy about him and started to stalk him, following from place to place, did all everything that she could so he could just notice her.
Slowly all of the hard work that Jang NaRa had put in started to affect him and made him fall in love with her too. In the movie, time itself is the enemy. Not only is the concept of the movie brilliant but the house as well. The lead actors flatter each others’ acting abilities, thus creating a good chemistry. Han Sung-hyun (Jung-Jae Lee from Over the Rainbow) is a man who finds a letter in a mail box sent by Kim Eun-ju (Ji-hyun Jun from My Sassy Girl) who happened to be two years ahead of him. The story unfolds during their exchange of letters which helps the audience understand the story better. Both find solace from each others letters and begin to fall in love without realizing it.

It is interesting on how the lead actress warns the lead actor about things that are bound to occur such as a big storm and the paw prints of a dog they both live with in the same time. However, the question to ponder is “How will they meet?” A mystery that keeps the viewers hooked until the end. Also, the OST of the story, Must Say Goodbye, compliments the mood of the movie splendidly; may it be played soft in the piano, sang by the artist or played in a joyful rhythm. Il Mare is a story that proves that no matter where you are love will definitely find its way. A film that captivates the audiences’ hearts and it is definitely worth watching.

Reviewed By : Shimmy

What if love could go beyond the restriction of time? Eun-ju(Jeon-Jiyeon)leaves a letter in her mailbox to tell the next owner of her house to forward her mail to her new address and right after Sung-hyun (Jung-Jae Lee) is seen moving into the same home. After a couple of scenes it is established that the mailbox of the house has some very special powers. It can send anything to the past two years or to the future two years. The two characters soon become realized of this strange phenomenon and bgein to communicate through the magical mailbox. As the story progresses the two characters begin to feel an attraction for one another but some problems arise that could mean the end of their love forever.

Il Mare is a wonderful movie full of the concept the love can transcend time and boundaries. It doesn’t necessarily make you roll on the floor laughing hard but it makes you giggle mad. The film is about four men who make a living as assassins. Yes, you hire them and they do the killing for you. It does sound grotesque but once the movie starts, you get lost in the river of comedy and forget the moral issues of the situation. However, the film doesn’t fail to question the morality of their job, even having one member reluctant in finishing his assignment.

The cast makes the casting director a genius. They have excellent chemistry, particularly the four leads. Shin Hyun-Joon as Sang-yeon is the very precise and goal-oriented leader of the group. Jeong Jae-young is the mysterious sniper who goes to confession after a job done. Shin Ha-Kyun shows his acting versatility as Jung-woo, the antsy bomb specialist. Lastly, Won Bin plays Ha-yeon, the youngest of the four who possess such melodramatic personality and the eagerness to finally shoot a gun. It is hard to choose which actor played their character best because everyone performed to the best of their capabilities. However, Won Bin and Shin Ha-Kyun dominate the screen with their presence. Whenever those two actors are on screen, expect something humorous to come out. Consequently, I feel that Jeong Jae-young’s character has been given the least screen time. His character is mysterious but the audience should have been given the privilege to learn more about him. This is one of my complaints about the film.

The movie is not perfect. Its flaws generate from the ending itself. Some questions have been left unanswered, leaving the audience to speculate. This doesn’t mean it has a bad ending. In fact, the movie maintained its humour until the credits start rolling. There is still that satisfying feeling. As for the music, no song stood out for me, but it’s not a bad thing. It simply blended well with the scenes but it is not something worth including in your daily playlist.

Overall, the movie is funny, light-hearted, and easy to watch. If you are bored or simply in need of a few laughter without dealing with heavy plot, then this is the movie for you.Yufeifeihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12895460274850018108noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1097056304422060176.post-68475266886172642922006-10-13T00:31:00.000-04:002006-10-13T00:33:28.524-04:00...ing...ing

Release Date : 2003
Director : Lee Eon Hie
Writer : Kim Jin

Cast :
Im Su Jeong ... She is very shy and tends to keep to herself while wearing one glove on her hand. He's a college student who's majoring in photography. By chance he sees her smoking outside on her room balcony. He asks her from the bottom floor if he can borrow her lighter. She throws it to him but he doesn't give it back.

This starts there cute friendship that blossoms into love. The love of mother and daughter really grasps the attention of the audience as both mother and daughter share a unique relationship where teh daughter can call her mother by her first name. The only thing lacking in this movie was more romantic events between Kim Rae Won and Im Soo -Jeong. I thought that their relationship was more older and brother and younger sister.
