Ditto in my opinion was a somewhat bittersweet movie to watch. At first you think it’s going to be your typical love story between two people communicating via a ham radio in a 21 year gap, however, to our surprise helps these two establish a special friendship bond, relying on each other as a journal. Throughout the movie you’re taken back and forth from the past to the present as both characters are living in their present.
The movie has a light romantic comedy to it, but as the movie rolls on one learns about how destiny can be a bit cruel and how one’s decisions play a role in it. This applies to the bittersweet feeling that I’m talking about. It’s that of Yoo So Eun (Kim Ha Neul) could have alternated her future, but she follows the path that Ji In (Yoo Ji Tae) reveals to her as her future. Not only did it mean to give up on the man she loves but it also brought Ji In’s present.
In conclusion, I liked how the story developed and how Kim Ha Neul’s character became selfless at the end even though she’s really heartbroken. Yoo Ji Tae’s character was also a good complement knowing that because of someone’s selfless act he’s able to exist he feels the need to look for that certain person.
